Sources and licensing
- Constitution text
- The official Legislative Department PDF (legislative.gov.in), edition as on 1 May 2026, vendored into this repository at data/source/. Statutes are public domain under Indian law (EBC v. D.B. Modak, 2008), so the text carries no license obligation. The text is never altered; editorial markers are stripped only for display.
- Amendment facts
- Years and milestones are derived from Wikipedia's List of amendments of the Constitution of India (CC BY-SA 4.0, attributed), paraphrased. Wherever the official PDF's own citations survive (97 of 106 amendments), the PDF is the source of record. Summaries on landmark amendment pages are written for this site.
- Bill tracking
- Pending bills are paraphrased fromsansad.in (official) andprsindia.org/billtrack, snapshotted by hand every month. Each row links to its source and shows its last verified date. No analysis text is copied.
- Plain words summaries
- Original editorial content by this project, licensed CC BY 4.0. They are summaries, never legal advice, and never a substitute for the text of the Constitution.
- Code
- Released under the MIT license. See LICENSE in the repository.
- Community datasets, evaluated and rejected
- GitHub datasets of the Constitution (captn3m0, civictech-India) were reviewed and rejected: last updated 2019 to 2021, and two of the three carry no license. The MIT licensed Yash Handa JSON is used as a structural cross check only, never as published text.
