Article 14 Equality before law.

This article says every person is equal before the law and gets equal protection of the laws. The State cannot treat one person better or worse than another in like cases. Courts use it to test arbitrary state action, because unequal treatment without a fair reason usually fails here.

  1. The State shall not deny to any person equality before the law or the equal protection of the laws within the territory of India.
