Article 27 Freedom as to payment of taxes for promotion of any particular religion.

This article stops the State from forcing any person to pay taxes whose money is used to promote one religion. Public money collected from all cannot be spent on the institutions of a single faith. This keeps the state out of religious promotion.

  1. No person shall be compelled to pay any taxes, the proceeds of which are specifically appropriated in payment of expenses for the promotion or maintenance of any particular religion or religious denomination.
